Taking a stab in the dark here, but I say 1 part epoxy to 5 parts acetone?

I use about 1:4 of Devcon Long-Set epoxy to acetone.  That works well for wipeon.  I tried it with spray and it didn't do so well.  Someone reported a 1:10 epoxy to MEK does well for spraying.

1 part epoxy to 3,4 or 5 parts acetone.  Everyone uses a little different mix I think.  The more you thin it the easier it is to work with.  I thin it quite a bit and it allows me to wipe over it a couple times.  I put about 4 thin coats on a knife handle.  If it is thicker, say 3 parts acetone then you can only wipe it once as you put it on because it is so sticky.  Chad

Once you mix it up at 5:1, can you save the thinned material in a sealed jar while it cures on the wood.  Will it last for several wipe on coats, or do you have to make a couple of batches?

The mix will keep several weeks in a sealed jar.

I like to go really thin...1 to 10 or more...for a first coat on arrows.  I think I get a bit more penetration that way and the shafts seem more durable.  Then I switch to 1 to 5...

Th exact ratio isn't real important but use the MEK as JS (now you remember who JS?!) said for better results and spray-ability.

The exact ratio isn't important.  In fact I never have measured either the epoxy or acetone.  I just add a splash of acetone until it is kind of a watery consistancy. I don't want it thick at all or it gets too sticky.

I use Devcon 2-ton epoxy in the double syringe.  The regular stuff, not the quicker setting stuff.  Has worked good for me so far.  I apply with one of those foam brushes and have found that the thinner I go the more passes I can make over the same spot before it starts getting tacky.  I've also heard thae MEK gives you a little more time for multiple passes.  So far I've only used acetone.

Mike, with the regular 2ton epoxy I buy I mix enough acetone or lacquer thinner to get the consistancy I want. I have never used a formula.   Pat

Only use two-ton of any brand, never 5 minute as it is garbage.  I tried once with smmoth-on and that was a failure.

Work time with MEK is enough unlike withe acetone.  Don't know what that is in minutes just "some" time as opposed to none.

Yes, Methyl Ethyl Ketone.  It has a lower vapor pressure is why it is better than acetone.

Just be careful with the MEK guys.....it is supposed to be some very bad stuff.
