   Nice one! Bad news is that babys worth $500.00 + (alive that is) at your neighborhood pond supply store - Koi go for big bucks in that size range.

How cool is this?...... Way!!... I'm saying....

I have been wracking my brain trying to remember where I saw a pond with several in it.

I was told that the same regular goldfish that you can buy in pet shops only stay that size if they are kept in aquariums but if released into a large body of water they could grow to much larger sizes.

God bless,Mudd

PS: Thank you for sharing that with us.

Thanks all. I think if I would have known it was worth that much I would have pounced on it like an eagle. Oh well live and learn.

Cool looking koi. But solid orange koi are just orange carp not worth that much that size maybe up to $300. And it would need to have perfect shape and scalation. OK Im a closset koi freak. But thats a real trophy.Bow skins ?.

Thumper is correct - the valuable ones have perfect patterns.  Do a little Bing or Google on Koi and see the value.

There are a few places here in Michigan where you can get into them pretty regular.  Sag Bay comes to mind.  I have also taken a few out of the Maple River.

Mounted it would be a cool conversation piece.  I know that my friend who has a sweet trophy room with some big bears and a lot of nice antlers gets more questions about the 3' gar pike with a fishing arrow sticking through it than all his other trophys combined.
