I took the boys (dogs) for a walk along the Erie canal today for a looksie. I was trying to see some carp and locate a few snapping turtles before the season opener. Usually I see a lot of Carp sunning themselves and a few snapping turtles here and there.
Today, there was nothing until after about a Mile, I saw a swirl next to shore. I snuck up on it and sure enough there was a nice carp right sitting there. Moments later I noticed about 10 others all pleasantly plump.
I was wondering why I went for a mile and only saw a bass and the fish were all stacked up here. That's when it hit me. Literally!!! A Mulberry! The fish were eating the dropping mulberries.
I found another tree with the same results. so I sat, ate mulberries and fed fish for about 20 minutes and then it was dark. I also saw a barely legal sized snapper come to dinner.
So, I guess with any type of hunting look for food sources. :D
