He (or I should actually say she) was a little scraggly in the fur department but it will still work really well for tying flies!

Congrats on your first trad kill!

Nice shot that is for sure.  Coons are tough.  Having one go down in 20 ft with a shot like that is great.

Can't wait to see the hat, or is he bloated up to the size of football back in the woods right now?

I will probably make the skin into fly tying materials rather than a hat...although the face was particularly pretty on this coon. I am going to try my hand at tanning on the skin. I would have eaten the coon, but it looked a little too mangy and scrawny for my liking. As it is, the coon will make fine fertilizer buried in the yard. This particular varmint had grabbed chickens from the neighbors and I wouldn't be surprised if it nabbed a cat or two as well.

Congratulations on a fine first traditional bow kill. Seems you had to pick a spot pretty quickly.

Congrats!
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Man!

It seems I can get dragged in on about anything that relates to food...lol and I resemble that remark too...lol

Did you say that he might be a cat killer?

Maybe you should have named him, given him his rabies shots and adopted him as a family pet...lol

Fellas I will eat almost anything... I have even tried coyote and beaver tail and during my time of physical and mental weakness I even stooped to eating a bowl of wall paper paste...lol

I will however give old fashion grits an honest try as soon as my body can handle them.

God bless,Mudd

Yes I did, I don't consciously remember picking the spot though. I was on autopilot by the time the light went on. I already knew his general orientation and where I wanted to hit him, so I guess I already had my spot picked out.

I guess we know where Mudd stands on cats!

Tell you what Mudd, there is a feral cat that came into the bait as well, shall I send that to you instead of the coon? I hear cat is very similar to rabbit.
