Carbon shaft surface finish?
«
on:

I'm looking into some of the small diameter carbons for hunting, and I have a question.
To me it appears the Easton ACC and Axis Nano have a sort of "rough" finish. For me that equates to arrow rest noise, and that is a no no.
Has anyone compared these to the Beman Bone Collector shafts? To my eye these look smoother on the surface.
I don't want to get into an argument over which shaft is better; at this point I just want to know which has the smoothest surface finish.
Thanks for the help.

I've got and shoot lots of ACCs. Never noticed them being more noisy than other arrows on the rest. Great shafts, not indestructible but pretty tough and very consistent.

I use the Easton Epics and have no issues with rest noise. I have seen issues with fletching coming unglued from slick finished carbon shafts. particularly if they are not lightly sanded before fletching.

Don't forget to take into consideration what rest material you are using.
When I shot carbons I could tell a difference between a leather and rug or hair rests.

I used to shoot the Beman Carbon Hunter (skinny shaft with an outsert), and they were smooth as glass.
Since they quit making those, I have yet to find a carbon shaft with a super-smooth finish.
I haven't tried the Axis, ACC, or Bone Collector. That's why I'd like to get info on those.

ACC's have become my favorate arrows for lots of reasons. They don't seem to be noisy. However, they cost way too much. I use felt on my rest.
