Extra long arrows
« on: July 10, 2011, 01:16:00 PM »
Anyone like to shoot full length carbon arrows, Even if you end up with four inches of arrow beyond the bow ?

Reason I ask is I picked up a few new Carbon Express Blue Streak shafts, left them full length and used a 100 grain brass insert, 125 tips, and they are flying great out of my Big Jim Buffalo longbow.

Just looks a little funny sticking out that much, almost like a primitive rig.

Mine are about 3" past the riser, but that is where they tune. And, I'm a little more accurate this way.

All my arrows stay full length.  Saves me a step in cutting them.

With carbon arrows I let my tuning determine their final length, and most of them end up 2-3 inches long.I feel on bows cut off center it helps to have alitte longer carbon arrow.I bought some used ones a few years ago that were about 1" past my draw. They were showing stiff,so I thought to add more upfront weight. The more weight I added the worse they got. They were bouncing of the riser instead of flexing around it.So longer carbon arrows doesn't bother me at all,I were rather have them flying the way I want not how much overhang there is.
