Mark -They are probably running everwhere, you're just to busy taking NAPS!LOL! don't get to worried, When I scouted I saw rams every day. When season opened I hunted 7 straight days without seeing a sheep.
If you want you can ask the DOW if you can gift your tag to me, that would save you all of that stress....   :saywhat:  LOL!

Jake I am thinking center of the lungs and Jason, I am not quite ready to give up my tag yet.

Greetings Mark!

The solution to your challenge is.....a NEW bow!

   :saywhat:

The NEW bow trick seems to have been effective in past years.

Keep the wind in your face!

Shoot straight, Shinken

Sheep hunting is a hunt that is on the bucketlist along with I bet alot of TG'ers.  Being a flatlander I would have to go a week early just to get used to the high elevation.  I have had the sickness and want ot avoid that!  Those pictures bring back memories of backpacing in the mountains as a kid.  Sitting here in the Texas heat, dreaming of those mountains in the west.....

Mark, don't get discouraged.  When I had that tag, I only found sheep on one scouting trip during the summer.  Then 2 days before the season they showed up right where they were suppose to be.  Stay focused on learning the country - how the mountains tie together - where you can go safely, and where you can't.  There aren't any secrets about sheep country in Colorado.

By the way, you spent your time on the wrong side of the peaks this last weekend near as I can tell from your pictures.  Come in from the Buena side, up 4 mile creek, and check out the South side of West Buffalo and I think you will find what you are looking for.

Also, make sure to spend a weekend if you can out of Leadville checking out Empire Gulch, Iowa Gulch and that country.

Call me if you have questions or need any other tips - I'm happy to help.

Todd

about as good advice as you can get there mark...

talk to Todd   he is as good as they get..

welcome to sheep hunting, you thought this was all about drawing the tag???---wrong--- this is going to put you on a whole new level, but you have to earn it.. it aint easy...but it can be done, it has to light a fire in your belly like you have not seen since a teenager... you will either like it or hate it.. but knowing you- there is no stopping you.. put your resources to work, people will help you, my first suggestion is ...TTT... talk to Todd

Thanks Todd, I remember everything you told me at the shoot and I will get exhausted before I get discouraged.

I picked the unit because so many CTAS guys have hunted it.  Lots of good info.

Mark
I'll pull up my thread, so people can keep them straight.
bottom line I have lots of snow right now where I want to hunt a ram, going to be interesting, never been this much snow in Northern CO.
