Can Anyone Tell Me Why...............
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:10:00 AM »
...... I Love 2016's So Much? Went the carbon and wood route. Still have lots of 'em but just dig them aluminum shafts. I know they bend easy. I know they break easy. Guess love is a funny thing... So I'll ask you, is it just me?

Because they fly well out of so many bows?

No idea Mikey, except that you make em so pretty, shoot them so well, and get perfect flight. I am recalling the one on the walll at your cabin.
Miss ya buddy. See you soon.

Aluminum arrows are so easy to tune and they fly great. As an example, I'll use my 42# recurve.

Since I have a 30" draw length, I shoot 32" BOP length arrows. They're never shorter or longer. Just a constant 32" cut length.

If I want to shoot a 2114, 2212, 2213, 2215 or 2117 arrow, I just pick the correct point weight for all of these differently spined arrows and fine tune by raising or lowering the brace height. This allows me to shoot a light arrow, a moderately heavy arrow, a heavy arrow or a very heavy arrow.

Right now, I'm on a light arrow "mission" with a 2212.

Although I dont prefer an aluminum Shaft they do have their benefits.

I just like to break woodies on your fox target!

Miss ya too. Hope all is well.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

I agree that aluminums are very versatile.  There is too much tinkering involved with carbons and wood which takes away from valuable shooting time.

My favorites also include the 2016 as well as the 2018, 1916, 2114 and the now extinct 1918.

My carbons and woodies are just gathering dust.  :dunno:

Although I have my one Dz AD Trad Lites, 90% of my arrows are 2117's. Aluminum is very consistant in weight and spine and easy to work with when crown dipping (except for the finish on Super Slams).

Also a very universal arrow, can be shot from various bow weights and lengths. Wish they would bring back the original Dougherty Naturals....I only have a few left!

I showed up at Muzzy last year with a few Alum 2216's and guys said are you crazy. At the end of the weekend I still had them intact and straight. One I lost twice and it was in the lost arrow tub both times. Just good all around arrows. I like 2117's also, they shoot well from my recurves, and even a few of my longbows!
