I want to do some ground hunting this year. More so than just getting tired of sitting and then deciding to walk around. I've got GFA's book, and am going to try to put some of it into practice. I just get tired of sitting in a tree. My best hunting encounters with deer for the past 2-3 seasons were all from the ground, while sneaking into or out of an area. As a side note... I have to walk a mile from my where I park to where I hunt -- all private land -- and started using my mountain bike. I was, and still am, shocked at how the bike does NOT spook game like walking. I literally almost ran over a coon in the dark, accidentally got within about 20 yards of an oblivious skunk, and upon parking my bike at the corner of a cornfield, regularly find deer within 50 yards out of sight around the corner. The critters seem to not spook at the continuous sound of hushed, rolling bike tires. So, that's how I go into my hunting area.
