August 1 - 3 for me
« on: July 25, 2011, 07:28:00 AM »
Well my friends, I will be at my church's Teen Camp for at least 3 days next week, teaching archery or rather be the provider of shooting archery gear for the event, may be there for more days but not sure "depends on Becky my wife & if the intrest is still there after 3 days."

I have the normal training bows available:
1 Dual L&R hand 60" longbow 25#
1 LH & 1 RH 54" recurve 20#
1 LH & 1 RH Genesis compound set to 20#
1 LH & 1 RH Genesis compound set to 15#
1 LH & 1 RH Mini Genesis compound set to 10#
About 4 dozen + arrows of varying lengths & spines.
Tabs, gloves, guards, chest gurads, & quivers.

Camp ground is supplying the safety net, targets & bow holders.

Outside of my personal bow & a bag target for my demonstration I have a awning & a few other items to bring for this event.
I'm a bit nervous, this will be my first solo instruction to kids that I really don't know but since this is a Church related event one of the things I've did some research on is Bible verses that reference Archery & that will be one of my questions to the kids as introduction.

One down side to this is I'm limited to the recurve & longbow selection, not my gear but my club master instructors & he was in a hurry to make it to S. Dakota for the Nats.

Wish me luck everyone that this goes smoothly & that I have the strength to give a proper instruction to these fine young men & women of the church.
Zona Custom Recurve: 60" 49# @ 27.5".
Sky Sky Hawk Recurve: 60" 47# @ 27.5".
Genesis 27:3 Now therefore, please take thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and hunt game for me.

Hang in there, you will do just fine, don't worry about "teaching", relax, gow with the flow, the youngsters will teach, just guide them.
The best of luck, and thank you for investing your time and energy with the young people.
Archery is a family sport, enjoy it with your family.

Thanks guys, I'm intermediate USAA certified but this is the first time I've did this without Jerry or Paul there as the lead.

The comforting thig is that there is only supposed to be around 30-40 kids there & along with the other activities it shouldn't be a large group so I should be able to relax, just I guess got some butterflies going I guess.
