Backyard Targets
«

Just finished up making my backstop and getting my bag target set up. I got some great ideas from this sight and wanted to pass this along to others that might be looking into the same thing.
I shoot a 45# recurve and shooting the stall mat from 10 feet the arrow just bounced right off. I couldn't be happier. Thanks to all on this forum!

Yes, the black material is a stall mat. I used treated 2x8s and lag screws and some deck screws. It was very simple and easy (even for my limited abilities). This thing weighs a LOT!

Yes, it's a regular horse stall mat. I'm not sure about particular brand. I just happened to find it on sale at Rural King for $28. It works fantastic. Measures 4'x6'.

I used to use mining belt behind a compressed hay bail, but have no idea where how to get it now. The stall mat, is a great idea, with a real "finished" look. Nice job.

I use conveyor belts. If you off set the top and do not fasten it anywhere but the top, arrows will push it and deplete energy. You can extend the life of the mat. I offset mine about 12inches

amar911- That's where I got the bulk of the idea. She did a fine job and I shamelessly copied it. haha
I did leave the mat hanging loose on the bottom. It is only secured at the top with the lag screws. I'm working on being able to modify the back of it to hang a 2x4 with some carpet draped over just in case my brother comes around with his compound.

I am impressed! I love Tradgang. Where else can you find so many great ideas related to Traditional archery?! I will be building one of these backstops this week!
