Arrow spine giving me fits!!!
« on: August 09, 2011, 12:18:00 PM »
I shoot a 53lb Bear Super Kodiak, Currently I shoot 30-1/4in Easton 2018 arrows, my arrows consistently hit about 6 to 8 inces left.and maybe 2 inces high, my groups are fairly tight. Do you think this arrow is spined to heavy. I have changed head weight from 145 to 175 and no change.

Is your 53# SK measured at 28"? What is your actual draw length? Is the SK cut past center? If so, how much past center? How about strike plate thickness? Dacron or fast flight string? How many strands in the string? Lots of variables involved.

Try a lighter spined arrow, and makesure the knock is not too tight on the string. I would say a 1916 0r 2016. Or a 500 carbon.

ARe you right handed or left handed.  Did you paper tune it?  Have you shot groups with bare shafts?

Have you adjusted your sights???    :)  J/K

I have a 55@28 Super Grizzly (drawing 51# at my draw length and have FF string) and and getting good flight with a 29" 2016 and a 29.5" 2018 both with 150's on the tip....

2016s is your best bet. Works for me. 1916 s maybe with a real lite head.

Im with the crowd on this a 2016 might be a good starting point. Do you have any heaver points? if so try throwing something heavy on the front and see if you get a responce just to see if a 2016 might be the path to take. Or if you have any 2018 full length left try one bare shaft.

I agree with wtpops.I like to verify with point weight before I do anything, which includes switching to a different shaft. My guess is,you just didn't add enough point weight.

Wow at that length I would not think they would be stiff at all, you may actually be weak and getting an opposite result. Try a 100 grain head and see if that helps at all. If you are drawing 29"s that bow is at least 56#s and I think those 2018s at that long should not be stiff. Shawn

I am with Shawn on this one. They would not be to stiff in my book.
