«

Hi John here, I recently posted on getting arrows shipped to me from the states. I have always shot wood but it isnt practical living in NZ. My bow is 56 in. long and 50# at 28. I pull 29 inches. I put the calculations in stews calculator and it didnt match up properly. I was ordering gold tip. I was suggested to get 3555 cut to 30 in. and and add 50 grain insert in tip and shoot 145 points. Please help!!!!! as i have arrows being built monday and need to let him know. Thank you very much in advance for any help and previous help i have been givin from you guys....

What string material are you shooting? strands, fast flight, etc.
I believe your going to need the GT5575s.
God Bless,

This is with a 12 strand fastflight string on a deflex/reflex longbow.
Using 5" feathers, Easton nock, 125gr Wensel Woodsman head with 32 gr. aluminum broadhead screw in adapters, 50gr. brass insert.
I hope I didn't miss anything.
God Bless,
David B.

Everyones form and shooting style is different so it will vary. For me with my 53# Thunder Child I was using 30" GT 3555's with 250gr up front. This combo has worked for me out of most longbows in the 50# range.

I found the previous post and it was 3555 with 50 grain inserts and 145 grain tip. That was for 28.5 inch draw and i measured again, with it being 29 inch. I would cut the shaft to 30 inch to throat of nock. Why does stews not match up for this while the two guys that posted previously are very well educated in this field and familiar with the thunderchild? Thanks again, John

No two people are the same. You could get either to shoot. I think that if you are at least a 29" draw, that I would try the 5575's and a 100g brass with a 145 tip. Leave shafts long and cut to suit.
good luck, bigjim

I draw 29" and shoot GT 35-55,black shafts ,cut to 29 1/2" bop, with 200gr up front, all up (including the insert),with my Ambush recurve 50"-49#@28"FF,and my Journeyman recurve 52"-44#@28"FF. Same arrow and length, with 225gr up front, all up,with VoodooKustom LB 60"-51#@29"FF, Silvertip recurve 62"-51#@29"dacron, Blacktail recurve 62"-48#@28"dacron.
