Anyone close to Wilmington NC?
« on: August 18, 2011, 11:11:00 AM »
That's where I grew up and my dad still lives there.  Me and a buddy went home back in June to bowfish for rays.  When we left my buddy Caleb left his longbow for my Dad to use.  Dad is a complete novice with trad and I'm in Arkansas.

I can only explain so much over the phone.  Dad doesn't have internet so I was wondering if anyone lives near Wilmington (Rocky Point specifically) that might be able to help him get started?

Dad and I visited Bernie when I went home.  The problem is they are about 1.5 hours apart.  I was hopeing there was someone a bit closer.

When Dad dropped us off at the airport I asked him to go back and check our rooms to make sure we hadn't forgotten anything.  When he got back home he found that Caleb had left his longbow as a gift for dad.

He has arrows and told me he has been shooting.  He said at 20 yards he is doing real good but at 10 he keeps shooting high.  I got to thinking about that and figured it out.  caleb shoots 3 under and dad shoots split fingered.  The nocking point is too low.

Something like that I now can think of and understand how it works thanks to what I've learned here on TG but to dad this is all brand new to him.

I doubt he will ever get a computer otherwise I'd have him on here.OBXarcher I appreciate the offer but that would be a long haul for you too.  I really appreciate it though.
