Simmons Tree Shark 2-Blade Glue-On

Has anyone here used the Simmons Tree Shark 2-Blade Glue-On broadheads? If so, what is your opinion regarding them?

I'd like to see a 4 blade glue on model like this.

They're my favorite head, and they work awesome.  Check out this thread for some photographic evidence.  I think the Treesharks start about page 3.

They will be on the business end of my arrows this season.

I think the screw-in version of the treeshark used to be slotted for bleeders. You may be able to custom order some 4 blade treesharks.

I think your right about the screw on version, but I use wood arrows and don't want to have to add a screw-in adapter.

So dresbow, I assume you do use them and like them???

As for the bleeders, I think you're making a hole so big to begin with, that they're really not necessary.  Treesharks don't make a slit like most 2 blade heads.  They make a GASH.  Bloodtrails are usually short, and profuse.

I agree, but I have really grown to like 4 blades. I think Fred Bear (not positive, but I think so) said something to the effect that no one should ever shoot an animal with anything but a 4 blade. Of course he never saw a treeshark.....

Just to put it into perspective, I've killed alot of deer with Interceptors and Landsharks with bleeders (whick work extremely well).  The overall cutting width of these heads with bleeders is 2.75".  Even though the Treesharks only have a 2" cutting width, I consistently get better blood with them.  Don't understand it, but that's been my observation.  I also have a friend who's killed alot of deer with both and he says the same thing.

Hood : I wish I had a good pic of the hole they put in the bear I shot this spring . The bear was down with in thirty yards and had a huge peice of lung sticking out the hole.
 I don't feel the bleeders are really needed.

Thanks guys for the info. Looks like I will be trying them this fall.

Hope I can get them shaving sharp or I won't be using them. I did watch the video that Chris put online. Thanks for doing that! I don't have a razor edge guide, but I think I can get it done.

My opinion is the same as Chris, I've never seen such blood trails.  I've gotten some good ones from the Interceptors and Landsharks also, but the Treesharks are ridiculous.  The steel master sharpener that Simmons sells works great also.

I laughed out loud when I got my first pack in the mail, they are BIG!  I also shoot them with 3 4inch feathers.  Good luck with them!

Dont know if this really helps.  The hole seemed to be bigger in real life.  There was blood coming from both sides, and his mouth and nose!  I resharpened it and put it back in my quiver on a new arrow.  The only problem I have with these heads is making them fit under the hood of my GN quiver.  I shoot these heads with 5.5" banana cut feathers I cut myself.  Loud but they control that big broadhead just fine!

I was wondering the same thing about getting them to fit in my GN Quiver. How many can you get to fit in there?

I bought six heads about ten years ago and killed three deer, all with the same chundoo arrow. I would not have thought that being so wide, they'd fly as well as they do. The third deer was a large doe. I tracked her to a large stream and she was in the middle, under the water with the arrow still sticking out of her back. The broadhead cut such a large hole that her body cavity filled with water and she sunk. The arrow was unbroken. I retired it that day. Although I had good luck with the wide Simmons head, I havn't used them since. They are not the easiest heads to sharpen and that's probably why I havn't used them since. Plus, I like trying different stuff.

 The big 200 grain ACE is another rather large broadhead. The only deer I ever felt sorry for after the shot was hit with the big ACE. Those things are terrible.

I use a 3 rivers "cc" Sharpener-it makes it easy to sharpen the angle on the head.  The way I fit these heads into my quiver is to angle the outside 2 inward towards the center arrow, so the blades fit under the hood-it's a tight fit though-I only carry three Sharks in my GN, so if you put one in the center front, and the other arrows in the back two holes you can use the the remainder empty holes for a couple of thumper arrows for messing around and what not?
