New Black Creek Banshee & New Member

Hello, hope all is well with everybody.  I am a new member with a new Black Creek long bow from Mr. Jim.  I just got my banshee at 58 inches and 55 lbs at 28.  I chose tradition only arrows and they fly great.  I am new to traditional archery but have archery hunted with a compound for many years.  All I can say is that I love the bow, fast and quiet, and I have a lot to learn about the sport.  But so far so good.  I have worked on my anchor point and am getting pretty consistent out to twenty yards.  

My brother in law shot the bow and wound up buying a Black Creek bow for himself, we even got them on sale.  Anyway I am going to ask questions and listen to people that know more than me about the sport.  

I have to say that I really like the bow, but I don't have much to compare it too.  I am amazed at the speed, I got 202 with 400 grain arrows and 150 grain field points.  What is the forums opinion of the bow?  Just curious, as I can't say enough good stuff about it.

Welcome to the site, and congrats on the new bow. I hear great things about Black Creek bows.

If you are drawing her a true 28 inches that is a very light arrow, under 8 gpp (grains per pound). It could damage the bow, at best it's not good for it. Too much unused energy not being absorbed by the arrow. I'd ask the bowyer about it.

Personally, I'd try for something at least 500 gpp or more. You'll find it quiets the bow and heavier arrows are generally more stable, and penetrate well.

Fantastic bows. If you want to see really quiet, up your arrow weight to around 700 grains.  I have a 62" Banshee, 55#@28", and I pull it to a touch over 31". My favorite arrow out of it is a Arrow Dynamics Hammerhead with a 200 grain point.  They weigh around 700 grains and really pack a wallop.

Welcome to the Gang! Are the arrows 400gr plus the 150gr points? If not I'm with DannyBows you are light. Speed isn't everything with these bows. Enjoy the path of the traditional bow, they are a blast!

Jim is a great guy and makes an outstanding bow. A buddy and I both have Siren model Longbows and love them, great shooters. You will not be disappointed and welcome to Trad.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome.  I think I am ok with the arrow setup as I have around 9 grains per pound overall.  I used the spine calculator that was sent to me on the old gobbler.com forum.  I will post the link once I get home and get off of this dang Ipad.  

I am assuming that the Banshee is a reflex/deflex type of bow.  The spine calculator works great but it does not have the correct measurements for Black Creek and I have to estimate some things.  It is hard to break out of the mold for looking for speed out of a bow, been shooting compounds too long.
