I now own three Whippenstick bows, 2 near identical longbows and an Inferno recurve. I've owned alot of bows over the last several years. Some bows were smooth, some fast, some were stable and others had great workmanship. It wasn't until I bought my first two longbows that I found a bow that combined all the performance, stablity and workmanship I was looking for in one package. I haven't bought any other custom bows from another maker (new or used) since I bought my bows and I won't sell em'. The characteristics of the bows are just top notch and I can tell you working with Ken is just a pleasure. Ken built mine specifically to be IFAA legal and when the bows were nearly done invited me up to get the grips fitted exactly how I wanted them. I consider him to be a friend and watched firsthand how he works and the detail he puts into making the bows just right. Honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find another bowyer who values customer satisfaction as much as he does.
As far as speed and performance goes, I shoot my 66" longbows at a draw weight of 50# at 28" (right what I draw to). I've shot a variety of arrows and I've settled on carbons that are 405 grs. and avg. 203-204 fps. My bow is a carbon backed model, modern string w/ two pair of little puff silencers, and a brace height a little over 7". The speed is great but what's better is the bow is smooth, holds really well and it's very stable and forgiving.
Here's a slideshow of the bow.
