Wet tab- affect release?
«
on:
August 31, 2011, 12:48:00 AM »
I started using a cordovan tab this summer and now that I hunted in the rain with it, wondered if that will affect its quality of release. Seems it would, being wet making it sticky.
Besides keeping it dry, do any of you treat the leather and if so with what? Or should I go with a tab that uses some other material?
Thanks
Joshua

I have never noticed a release quality difference between wet and dry cordovan tabs or other tabs materials.

I treat mine with any number of things...
Pitch Blend leather dressing is my favorite.
neatsfoot oil
mink oil
saddle soap
I have never noticed my arrow flight being affected in wet weather, only if my fletching got soaked.

Nope. No effect that a mere mortal can detect. In our monsoon season, we shoot and hunt soaked to the bone.

Take Abe's advice and wet it to learn what it does.

I do not hunt in the rain because when it "finally" rains in Texas, it's always a gully washer. Not fun. This is why I check my favorite animated weather radar sites BEFORE I leave the house to go to my hunting spot in the early morning.
With that said, the only time my Bateman tab gets wet....is from sweat. When I treat my tab's leather, I use mink oil.
