Brought back to the top and updated for 2012 - We're still tracking!
Once again we will be taking calls for leashed dog blood tracking with our dachshund Oskar. We don't charge anything for this, just enjoy tracking, want to get on more blood trails, and help folks recover deer. This is Oskar's fourth season and he found 25 deer in his first 3 years. We will travel 1hr from the Brazil/Cloverdale/Greencastle Indiana area and can track in Indiana or Illinois (and a bit farther for a good track - call - the worst that can happen is I might not be able to take the call). Tracking at night is allowed in both states - hunter cannot carry a weapon on the track.
The best bet is to call me if you doubt your shot placement - I don't mind "easy" tracks - but if you and 6 buddies spend 4 hours messing up the track it makes it exponentially harder for the dog to get past the point of loss.
My tracking cell # is 812-241-2802 - call 24/7 - leave a message if I don't answer and I'll get back to you quickly.
Weather and time, within reason, do not matter to the dog. The hardest tracks for people (gutshots) are the easiest for the dog.
Keep in mind that I work a full time job and hunt hard too, but I do my level best to take every reasonable call.
Hoping to do some tracks for IN/IL TradGangers this year! Be warned, if you see me at Kalamazoo in January and tell me about a deer you lost and didn't call me for this or that reason I'll kick you in the shins!
