New to tuning
«

I am new to traditional archery. I have not been able to find a lot of help tuning a recurve either.
I have read Byron Furguson's book and his discription of bare shaft tuning is different then Easton's tuning guide.
I am starting with the recommended carbon shafts for my draw weight and arrow length. I left the arrows about 3 inches long to have something to trim down.
Is it best to compare groups between bare and fletched shafts or just shoot bare shafts when tuning?
Do I cant my bow when bare shaft tuning?
What is the best distance to begin the process?
Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

I prefer the paper tuning method over bare-shafting. It is easier in my opinion. Shooting through paper I cant my bow just as I would any other time...when you bare-shaft, I would say that you would need to shoot the way you intend to eventually shoot.

Thanks for the help guys. I am getting it closer now. I am having to go with a heavier tip than I originally planned.

When you are a newby, and I hate to say the following, then tuning makes no sence. You are not shooting consistent enough and tuning will only confuse you.
i would recommend to use Stu Miller Dynamic Spine calculator. This will get you in the balpark. Then, aftr half a year or so you can start tt think about tuning.
