New MOAB (compared it to my other Thundersticks)
« on: September 01, 2011, 10:11:00 PM »
Got an awesome bow this week and wanted to share some pics.  It's a 62" MOAB, 52#@28.  Only got to shoot it for a little while, but was really impressed with what I saw.  It has a very smooth draw and seems to be faster than my TSIII which is 4# heavier.

Also, I thought it might help someone else making a decision between these three bows to see them lined up together.

Top to Bottom:
62" TS III
62" TS MOAB
58" TS Mag

As you can see the MOAB has the most relfex, and the Mag has the most deflex, and lastly the III.  After shooting all three I think the MOAB is definitely the fastest and has a little bit smoother draw than the other two.  I still love shooting the short Mag and it'll be my blind bow for sure.  I think all three bows are great and you won't go wrong with any of them.  The only doubt I have is about the length of the MOAB "for me".  I'd like to try a 60" just to see the difference.

I have had both 60 and 62 inch and i prefer the 62" for my 29" draw. If you draw shorter you may like the 60" better. Been wanting to try his Mag. Let me know how the MOAB compares to the MAG.

Awesome bows Matt! My son shoots a 58" 49# Mag and loves it! Ive been looking for a mid 40's Mag but now I'm thinking that perhaps a MOAB might be be nice too!

I'm drawing a little under 28, so it sounds like the 60" would work better for me.  I hate to get rid of a bow so soon, but I may put it up in the classifieds to trade for one that's shorter and a little heavier.

I do love my Mag, but I think the MOAB is a little smoother and faster.  But there's just something about a short longbow that makes it fun to shoot.  It's a close call between the MOAB and the Mag as to which I like more.  The TSIII is still great, but I like the other two better.

Jim Reynolds is one of the most under rated bowyers out there. I ordered a new Thunder Stick II from him back in 97 when the TS II was his newest model. The bow was 63# @28" 64" amo and was a rocket. I killed many deer with it including a Doe that I dropped in her tracks at 28 yards, arrow blasted through her front shoulder (quartering to me) and exited her back hip. Took out her heart a lung and busted her up! She died almost instantly. Great bow that got too heavy for me, wish I had another one, hhhmmmmmmm.................

Yeah, I was lucky to be checking the classifieds right when it was posted.  I've been looking for one since last winter.  I'm usually too late when the good deals come up.

I recommend all of these bows.  The hardest part is choosing which one.
