It All Starts Tomorrow
« on: September 02, 2011, 03:42:00 PM »
Archery antelope has been in for two weeks here but tomorrow is the opener for elk and mule deer. That's always been the approximate date for them.In recent years,Montana has made a change so that black bears and mountain lions may be taken, starting that day. This year, wolf has been added to that list.Whitetails, mulies, elk, black bear, mountain lion and wolf.Decisions,decisions.What would you hunt?

OK,I'll admit,I want a meeting with this guy in the worst way.

There are a couple bears and whitetails using the same trail and possibly another lion.I need to check tomorrow to see if there is still any activity there.

Just a reminder, trail cameras are illegal to use starting tomorrow.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I'd hunt them all at once if I could!

Geez, I wish I lived there!!!!!!!!

I probably would hunt mulies in the morning and bear in the evening.

By the way, what do you guys do for a living in Montana? Oh, I know, hunt. Right?

No Walt,I think that started August 15th,with antelope season. No stikstringer,as far as I know,Montana is the only state in the nation where they are illegal as long as there are any hunting seasons going on in that area. This means you can only use them here from June 16th to August 14th.Lazer rangefinders and weapons that can shoot a mile are perfectly OK.They just don't want you to use technology to get an unfair advantage.

And do we know the reason for the trailcam rule? Just curious. Is it really the unfair advantage thing? After seeing that big cat I don't need to see anymore, I'm outta there!!!!
