« on: September 03, 2011, 03:27:00 AM »
does anybody make a 200 grain 9/32 field point I bought some 200 grain vpa and wanted to do some testing? or can I use other points in the beeman mfx shafts. i think if i use the brass inserts I will be to heavy for my setup, i wanted to order the 400 spine shafts, should i order the regular inserts too? its for my bob lee 55lbs@29

i have not seen 9/32 200 grain points anywhere.
i use the 200 grain points from 3 rivers,  they are tapered behind where they screw into the shaft and the fit the MFX and other 9/32 shafts with no problems.
I use either the Easton HIT 50/75 break off inserts or the 3 rivers 100 grain inserts depending on what I am trying to acheive FOC wise
For tuning i bare shaft with just a tiny bit of hot melt to hold the insert in place, or with electrical tape holding the point/insert onto the shaft, then when I have got the tune i want its time to epoxy them in place.
As far as your spine choice I think you are in the ball park...  on my bows arond that weight I use 400 spine cut to 30" with 75 or 100 inserts, I draw to 29"  and I have adequate broadhead clearance for my fingers...  Your tune will depend on your bow (cut past centre amount etc) and your form..  but I reckon 400 spine will get you in the ball park for sure, start long and cut down a little at a time...
hope this helps.

I"m shooting 200 grain Razorcaps and Axis 400's  in my 55# bow and they shoot great. Just used the regular aluminum adapters. I also shoot the 200 grain points buejeger refers to on my bemans and axis arrows. You should be fine with the normal insert and the 200 grain head. My arrows are 29" BOP.
