I'm a brand new member of TradGang. I should have joined before, but had time constraints. Now temporarily retired.
Anyway, I have a Bear Ausable coming tomorrow. This is my first manufactured long bow. I've been shooting long bows of my own making for almost five years. I was considering a Martin Savannah due to the smaller riser and low weight. But I shoot lefty and it was a 4-6 week wait from Cabela's (I had $400 in free Cabela's gift money for my retirement gift) so I went with the Bear. I tried to get the physical weight from Bear and 3R, with no success.
I'm really used to the light weight (mass)of the bows I make. So far they've been hickory, osage and sinew backed mulberry. Am I going to be surprised by a much higher weight? Has anyone shot one yet? I found only one review online and it was positive.
I know it's coming tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to it and thought I could get some info ahead of time.
Thanks for any answers. Now I'm off to check on the bow making section.
