Shrew Hawk vs. The Trapper

Anyone have one of these or both that can give me some feed back on the size differance and which one they like better?

Im looking for carrying it while hunting as well as around camp use.
Do the head sizes change alot and does one fit better under the arm in the Frontiresman?

The ShreHawk is the smaller one, right? I love mine use it all the time. I use the belt sheath, or just stick it in my possibles bag.

The shrew hawk is the smaller one, 14" handle and 1 lb head as where the trapper has a 16" handle and a 1.5 lb head!

I have never held or used the trapper.  I own two of the smaller hawks.  If they are heavy, you won't carry them. Mine are small, yet cut like you wouldn't believe.  I use them to trim, to mark, just to carry, and to bop skwerls (if you use nutters, they sometimes need help staying dead).  Although I think the trapper is awesome in appearance. .  I will stick with the smaller one and actually carry it.

I have the shrew hawk, all around very good quality, I would like a longer handle may eventually make one, use the frontier sheath keeps the hawk accessable but out of the way, chose the shrew hawk over the trapper due to cost and size, have a highly modified cold steel hawk with 24inch handle, shrew hawk is better steel, modified cold steel is a better chopper due to lenth of handle, may get another shrew hawk and have it vetorized by Vector Hawks

I have handled and used the trapper.  I would place it in the camp hawk category.  Very heavy for carrying.  Fabulous for chopping wood in camp.   If you plan to carry the hawk a 1 lb head is about as heavy as you want to go.   I like a carry hawk with a fairly long handle and a 3/4 lb head.   I would go with the shrew hawk and decide if you want a longer handle.   Cold Steel uses 1050 in their hawks.   That is a couple points lower carbon than I like to use.   Edge holding is a lot better with 1060 or 1070 series steels.
