Shooting darts (well kinda)
« on: September 12, 2011, 12:50:00 PM »
I've considered my tunning ability to be pretty good with all the info on here and the web, allways tuned my bows to shoot consistantly or so I thought. I was planning on leaving my setup alone as I bareshafted my field points and back to 20 yards they impacted the same both fletched and unfletched, but allways had a litte kick to them then straighten out. I put on my broad heads and at 15 yards they were close enough but still that little kick, well I backed up to 25 yards and the bottom droped out. that little kick was a false positive kicking off the shelf. So I took off my nocking point and started over and boy o boy what a difference. My nock is set at 11/16 and the bow shoots better then it ever did. back to 25 yards with the broadheads and field points dead on.. My early doe season starts Thursday and I'll be in a tree tuned and ready....
The moral of the story is don't settle for close, your arrows should shoot flat without the tail kick.

Very true. The best flying arrows are always well tuned arrows.

"My own little rule" - I attempt to tune my shafts 5 yards further than my effective hunting range under ideal conditions.
