Opening Day in Kansas
« on: September 19, 2011, 09:09:00 AM »
Just wanted to say good luck to all that get out this week.  Nice and foggy this morning. I wish I did not have to work.

I will without a doubt be sitting in the woods tonight with my Montana and POC arrows with magnus 1's.

Good Luck all.

Good luck James! I know a certain Trapper will be doing the same. If there is an east wind, I know a particular buck that will be in trouble! Good luck out there

Yeah......East wind benefits me also in a few stands. However it will be a N NW wind  5 mph or less. from 6pm to dark here where Trapper and I live. Id like to see Tracy post some pics up or a kill tonight.

Good hunting!
An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Yeah, for most of my stands a North wind is the hardest to hunt in the Evening. But the best for Mornings. I hope Terry gets a chance at that buck this year. He sure is nice.

When was it you were coming to KS again? The 1st week of Nov?

The wind was terrible NNW so I had to set up a ceder ground blind and planned on just watching tonight and not taking a chance on spooking them.

About 6:30pm I woke up from a unplanned short nap  :knothead:    :D  and noticed the wind had done a 180 so I jumped up and made my move to the planned blind just in time. Had 4 bucks at 7:20 including the two I am after,This buck with his dryed velvet is very impressive and cool looking.

They were 100yds out slowly coming my way but never made it there before I ran out of light. Great night!

Good luck guys    Shoot strait  :archer2:

Nice buck Tracy! You always have great deer over there and large amounts too. I see few, but not with the frequency you do. Plenty of smaller bucks and does though.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

I sat last night and had two does pop out about 6:30 headed straight for me from about 100 yds out. Seeing my freezer nearly empty meant I was ready to bend my bow. Well, they popped back into the woods at about 60 yds and that was the last I saw of them. Right about the time I was ready to climb down two smallish bucks walked in at 25 yds and I was confined to my tree until they moved off thirty or so minutes later. Great to be back at it!
