Need some advice.
« on: July 08, 2007, 10:24:00 PM »
Finished up a tri-lam the other day. Finished tillering out and noticed there was a small crack in the osage on the bellt side of the bow. It starts at a small knot and works its way to the edge about 3/8" long I have an 1/8" piece of Bloodwood between the osage and the bamboo. Any way to fix it? I have shot it about 50 times and it dont seem to get any worse, but it is a weak spot because my tiller has changed from shooting it.

That is a real shame! Maybe someone will chime in soon. I have no idea how to advise you.

Regrets,

Dean Torges did an article about grinding out bad areas like this and adding a plug for the repair. There might be something about it under the "How To" section.     Pat

Here's the article. I'm currently repairing a bow the same way, just as soon as I get more Urac glue that is.  http://www.bowyersedge.com/patch.html
