Inserts

My insersts are spinning in my Axis arrows.  How do I lock these down without taking them out?

You don't... if they are spinning then they are loose and need to be taken out, cleaned and glued back in..

What Javi said.....also make sure you rough up the inside of the shaft and then clean them w/denatured alcohol, etc. before gluing them back in.  I like JB weld for mine, but any epoxy will work.  You can also use the low temp hot melt like Big Jim and 3R sell.

Thanks fellas.  I was hoping that someone had a miricle cure for this but I'll nock em out with a small drill bit and reglue them.

Just thought I'd share this. I'm sure most will think I'm an idiot. Your mileage may vary so only try one to start with and see what you think.

I got a dozen new carbon arrows last year to make up flu-flu's.  I wanted to get one done that night to test, and was in a hurry.  I already had them cut and my spiral fletching done but it was getting dark and I didn't have the inserts in yet.  I didn't feel like mixing up one small batch of epoxy and waiting for it to cure.

 So I grabbed a bottle of gorilla glue Impact-tough superglue intending to knock the insert back out later and use the 2part epoxy I usually use. I prepped the inside of the shaft with a brass bore brush and a q-tip damped with acetone.  cleaned the insert with acetone.  Smeared the gorilla glue on the insert and inserted it ALMOST all the way into the shaft. I set the arrow down just long enough to put the cap on the glue and went to push the insert the rest of the way in. It wouldn't budge  no matter how hard I pushed!!!

I tried knocking it out with a drill-bit..... wouldn't move a hair.
So I snatched up my longbow, strung it, and went to the back yard and sent the shaft hurling at a big water-maple in my back yard that I hate with a passion.  I figured the insert would break loose or the shaft would break one of the two.  The insert STILL DIDN'T BUDGE!!! I repeated 5 more times to no avail.  I still use that arrow regularly. I now use this glue on all of my inserts, even shafts that have H.I.T. inserts and haven't had a single one pull out. I do quite a bit of stumping too.  

Just make sure when you put the insert to fully commit and don't stop for anything. LOL

I use the regular gorilla glue on mine and they have never come loose.  that gorilla glue is good stuff

You are not an idiot.  I have had the same experience as you.  For years I used 2-part expoxy for my inserts.  About two years ago I tried the Gorilla Impact Tough Super Glue and have been using it ever since.  I is easier, quicker, and they never come loose.  I lightly sand the inside of the shaft and clean with denatured alcohol before hand.
