How to remove old wraps??
«

Hello all,
Getting ready to make up my first set of arrows. Not from the ground up or anything, just put the feathers on and new wraps...
My question is how to get my old wraps off of the arrows. The old wraps are 7" solid white wraps. The new ones will be 7" cane snake wraps.
I have half a mind to just get as much of the old glue as possible off and wrap the new wraps over the top of the old wraps.
Any tips???

Just use a hair dryer, it will heat up the adhesive and will peel off pretty easy. Then use goo gone extreme to take any left over residue and you are good to go.

I've had pretty good luck just peeling them off, but the hair dryer makes it a quicker process.

Geeze,Kuch, I thought with my bad eyes that was an "!" point at the end of your sentence!
I found my serrated steak knives at home perfectly fit my GT shafts in the groove... I tried the boiling water route and that didn't work and the hair dryer just seemed to take too long...
I soon had all 6 scraped off and the GooGone slicked them up, alcohol to wipe off the GooGone and back to re-wrap!

Razor blade-just don't dig down too hard and then clean it up with acetone, or nail polish remover and a paper towel....

I' ve tried the blow dryer tip and could not get it to heat up enough to peel off. What are you guy doing that i'm not? I use a potato peeler and it works really well and take no time to peel them off.

I've used a razor blade then cleaned up the shaft with fine steel wool and denatured alchol.
But the hair dryer method sounds pretty good too.

I use a hair dryer, just heat till it bubbles a little and pull off.takes me very little time and does not hurt the shaft.just don;t forget to keep moving the hair dter and not hold it in one place.
