I'm no computer guy either. I have a Garmin Dakota and find it simple to use. It is touch screen, and you can put them Montana mapping system thingys in it. (really nice for all the public/private ground bounderies)

I have the Oregon 550.  Touchscreen, and very simple interface yet has many features that I like, like the ability to download custom maps, which in my opinion takes your navigation to a whole other level.  Good battery life, quick satellite acquisition time and locks on in thick cover.
