Both great! I must say that thus far I've been VERY impressed with my KUIU gear.

I'm definitely a Filson fan but my favorite base layer by far is Woolpower.
Woolpower
All Woolpower® products are constructed with Ullfrotte Original, a technically advanced material made from a combination of two thirds fine Merino wool from Patagonia, Argentina, and about one third synthetic fiber so as to achieve the greatest strength. And Ullfrotté is knit with unique terry loop stitching in order to create the optimal insulating capability.

I've tried woolpower and icebreaker and icebreaker wins hands down. Filson makes great stuff and backs it up. The kuiu jacket I have is great.
I'd say try all you want to and keep the one you like best.

If it gets cold, you wear helly hansen polypro under garments.
Cool- chilly the Filson or Kuiu work well.
Cold is anything below 0 F without windchill.

where is KUIU made? I have(had) a lot of ice breaker stuff and I don,t find it to last as long as other stuff i use, like Ibex, and smart wool...
and now it is(icebreaker) made in china!!
WoolPower, is great stuff but not 100% wool, so I guess it depend on what you are after!

Only have experience with the Kuiu. Wore mine for a week straight chasing elk this Sept. and was extremely comfortable, and the other guys appreciated that after a week straight it didn't even smell that bad!

I have gone strictly to merino wool base layers. My Kuiu is the lightest weight, then I have some SmartWool and if really cold I have some some Ulfrotte'.
I got completely away from PolyPro because it retained odor so badly.

kuiu material is made in japan, sewn in Vancouver, sold out of california.
I wear a silk long sleeve tshirt, a light wool long sleeve tshirt, the helly hansen and then my outer shell(s) when its cold. The polypro doesnt get as stinky with those layers under it. Warm.
Bottoms, some of that fancy synthetic bicycle rider stuff to transfer moisture, the helly hansens and then my outer stuff which ranges from kuiu this year to thick heavy wool dpending on the temps

i have the kuiu base layer and then the layer you put on next. On reasonably warm days ( 40 to 50 degree) the first layer is so light you hardly know you have it on but it keeps you very dry and comfortable. on cold days i wear both layers and am really amazed that I am not getting sweaty walking to my stand. i also used this in Canada on my recent moose hunt and one day wore both layers till it warmed up at noon. never once did i feel wet or clammy. love it.

The thing to look for is acutal material weight cause one comapany's mid weight isn't the same as the next guys. I've seen some that a midweight from x company would be the same as a heavy from z company.

I love my kuiu baselayers. I'd pick them over filson hands down. The biggest problem with merino is durability and I have beat the snot out of my 250 zip neck and it has no holes, snags, runs, etc. I have trashed several other brands merino layers like icebreaker, smartwool, and patagonia. Plus it comes in a great camo pattern, good for warm days when its your only layer. The coloring is almost exactly the same as asat or predator fall brown.
