Great Morning out
« on: October 24, 2011, 02:34:00 PM »
I was in my stand well before sun up. It was warm and calm. I get all settled in and just happy I did not bump any deer heading into my stand like I tend to.

I get all comfy and wait till morning my wait is not long I hear something big moving and the distinct sound of horns clanking on something. This goes on for a while movement sounds of horn on I assume is a tree.

I start to question if another hunter has set up near me and is trying to rattle up a deer before sun up. There is a silver line on the horizon that promises the sun is not far off.

I see the movement I have been hearing. The light is slowly creeping in on the shadows. The animals move closer still, then a glint of antler.

My heart goes from 0 to 60, my breath gets hard to come by. It is still a little dark. How big is he, is he a shooter or do I care?

Ok I see his antlers don't branch to much could be a fork or tall spike. Man is the sun taking it's time.

He walks off to about 25yrds and works a fresh scrap, up on his hind legs and pees in it while rubbing his tarsals glands together.

Oh he is coming back and the light is much better in just that little time span. Ok the turkey are wide awake now. Oh he is a little fork. Hold still he is looking right at me. Ok he really likes the acorns here.

Ok he is moving behind my stand, and the turkeys are on the ground, oh another deer come in towards the little buck. Oh a doe, I hope she come in.

Oh the turkey are running all lover, and there goes the doe. Oh come on turkey come in. Oh where did that little buck go? And the turkey are going off now to feed else where. But the bushy tails are coming in, in full force.

Oh a song dog sneaking through the under brush but he does not want to play.

After waiting for a bit and watching the bushy tails, one offers up a shoot about the time to go. So draw and release and just over his back but if I wanted that little buck he would have been mine for that bushy tail was standing further then he was and I really just missed him.

But it was a good morning, on my way home my truck caught fire, oh well still a good morning.
