Need a Minn. Rut Report
« on: October 25, 2011, 10:29:00 PM »
Guys
Leavin for the Shack Fri. to meet up with my boys for our "Rut Hunt". Got a week to getter done before the gun shooters move in. What kind of luck do you think we will have. West central area crops should be just about out. Any Reports???

Thanks
Chuck

Not much for rut activity in my area.  Bucks still togather.  Chad

Buck activity has picked up around the metro. Some chasing tonight. 3 buck sightings in late afternoon in last two days.

I have seen nothing in the metro and drive a lot for work, went from Edina to Blaine to maple grove and then Hudson today and watched for activity. I have not heard of any deer/car collisions on the morning news either. I was out last Friday and Saturday on a farm in Stillwater and did see scrape lines, perimeter scrapes nothing permanent yet. Did not see any bucks together and fawns still with mom. I am hoping next week, I will be out this Thursday and a few days next week. I think the gun hunters will have good timing again this year. We are close, next week is always the best time in Minnesota, we have no choice to get out right before gun opener.

Watched a couple younger bucks chase after a doe tonight. About another week and the big guys will start coming out to play.

I was in the Battle Lake area last week, did not see any rubs and only one scrapte on my small parcel.  Usually see more for rubs at this time of the year.

I would suspect holloween weekend should heat up.

Tonight I rattled lightly at a buck walking 100 yards away.  He stopped and made a scrape but continued on his route.  Chad

Saw a dandy just walking around at 11:55 a.m. as I was headed home for lunch.

I had a frisky young buck chasing does around my clover/alfalfa field a couple nights ago.  Other than that, very slow, not even seeing many does.

Never understood why rifle season opens so early in Minnesota.  I hope I'm not bowhunting in orange again this year...
