Hunting Tips!
« on: October 27, 2011, 12:30:00 PM »
Sometimes you stumble upon little things that make hunting more enjoyable/comfortable.  Well today was one of those days.  Rain, rain, rain and rain.  Anyhow I picked up one of those umbrellas that hooks to a tree a while back and never thought to use it until I looked outside today.  I think the company is Buckwing or something.  Let me say that they work great.  It is still a good idea to wear raingear to keep yourself somewhat dry to and from your stand, but once this thing is up it is great.  It really works.  Second, I was in a hang on stand today with a padded seat, so I used my other seat cushion that I brought with me and put it between my back and the cold wet tree.  What a difference this makes.  It seems to keep your whole self warmer.  Ok that's it.  I know that these are not revelations to most, but I just thought I would pass them along.
God Bless

I got one for rubber knee boot guys. When I'm waiting on game to come into range I rest the lower limb tip inside my boot. It keeps a portion of the weight off your bow hand an arm.

I attached a quick disconnect bracker for a Kwiki-Kwiver to my climbing tree stands. When sitting on stand the arrows are right near my right hand when needed.

I have a pouch that hangs from my belt and is Winona camo on the outside and synthetic fleece on the inside.  I can keep my hand with a tab in that and so don't have the bulk of a glove to mess up my shooting.

Another boon is a one-arrow bow quiver.  Carries the arrow when still-hunting or a fast back-up when on stand to suppliment my side quiver.  (Only twice have I had the opportunity for a second shot and only once was I smart enough to take it.  Lesson learned).

My litte Fenix PD30 flashlight.  Dim, bright or  holy smokes bright! and long lasting on two C123 batteries.  Brothers of the Bow have an identical one they call the "Main Beam".

You can also use that umbrella as a ground blind. Hap
