Bowstring

I know this is probably an amature question, but how can you tell what material the bow string is made of just by looking at the string??

When I bought my Martin Dream Catcher about 4 years ago (used), it came with a second bow string. It looks brand new but I have never bothered to use it all that much. I have strung it and shot it a few times, but not enough to really get a feal for it. I am not sure if it made of the same material or not. It is a little thicker than the one that is currently on my bow. I know that my bow is built to handle a fast flight string, so I am not concerned on that part of it.

Thanks for your time,
Trent

Sometimes, but it can be tough.  It's easy to tell a dacron string from a FF type material though, at least with flemish--just pull out a tag end and see if you can cut it with nail clippers.  If it's hard to cut/won't cut at all, it's a FF type material.  Dacron will snip easily.
