snake skins on Bear
«
on:

I am thinking about putting snake skins on my Bear Super Kodiak. Will the snake skins ruin the original finish of the bow? I really like the snake skins, but I am not sure if I am ready to permanently change the appearance/finish of my Bear recurve. I would appreciate some advice.
Thanks,

I don't know of any way to apply real snake skins to a bow that would allow them to be removed later without messing up the original finish.
You might take a look at the limbsations photo realistic limb coverings sold by Onestringer (see the sponsor listings)

Depends on the glue and how you prep the bow but this "57" Bear Kodiak didn't mind

Beautiful bow Coaster! I might be sold from those pictures alone. My Super Kodiak isn't an antique or anything, but I was worried about not keeping it original. Based on those pictures, I don't know that I would ever want to remove the skins.
Thanks for the input everyone!!

Coaster,that's a beauty for sure!
I am thinking to skin some of my old Bear too,for sure I don't want to do that on a rare mint model, but if your SK is a 70's model, well there are plenty of them and I don't think you can in any manner lower its value.

I know its a matter of personal preference but I like the old school look of colored glass these days. I would take Whip's suggestion as a non-permanent approach. tm

Cacciatore, my SK is a newer model. Im not sure what year, but it looks the same as the new ones made today. It definitely isn't a 70s bow.

I've put skins on 2 sets of Bear Takedown limbs and I really like the way they turned out. I've got Diamondbacks on a set of newer #3s anf copperheads on a set of white #2s. I don't care if it might decrease the value cause I will never sell either set.

I have a set on some Bear TD limbs. They not only look great but shoot the same.

Thanks all. I think I am going to do it. It is not old enough of a bow to start thinking about it's value kept at original. Plus, like others have said, it shoots fine and I like it. I don't think I will ever sell.
Now I just have to decide if I want to tackle the project myself, or pay someone to do it.
