Great job! Interested to know how you learned?
Well, I'm a bit of an autodidact. I didn't grow up with an outdoors kind of dad or one that was around the house much. So, I tend to teach myself how to do things and I read up on what interests me. I've taught myself how to fish, fly fish, tie flies, shoot guns, hunt, use bows, etc.
But with this I watched a YouTube video from Billy Berger with him working over a couple of pieces.
I had a couple of small antlers lying around I was going to use for knife handles (so much for that) and I cut the tines off and fashioned tools to knap with.
I cut the main beam(between T2 & T3) to create a soft hammer to flake, I picked up a smooth river stone from our river for a hard hammer, I used two tines for general pressure flaking and another for cutting the tangs that I grinded down to a smaller tip, and I picked up a $6 bag of thick scrap leather from Hobby Lobby to use for a leg and hand pad.
From there it was just playing. I just envisioned the shape that I thought I could make out of the size of obsidian that I had and then I got to work trying to thin it down and shape it.
