I would tell you that if you liked the bow then there is not a lot left to say. How did it feel to you? Were you satisfied with the shootablity? Just because someone else does not care for the bow does not mean that it will not perform for you. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you like it then why not?

Owned a bow in the $1700 range that I wish I hadn't given a nickel for and have shot bows in the $300 dollar range that I far much preffered.

Bows are extremely individualistic and only you need to be satisfied.

I can't speak for the newer ones but absolutely love the older ones. And I too would go for the Super Grizzly if I were in the market for a new Bear.

Big Jim, a sponsor here on TG, recently had a sale on his in-stock Bear Bows. You may want to contact him before you commit. He can also likely give you his 2 cents on them since he is an archer/bowyer also.

Some folks love only the Grayling made bows. I think Bear bows of Gainsville birth may have had a bad rap at first and it kinda stuck, but lots of folks have the newer Bears and love them.

My long range plans are to find a Super Grizzly from Gainsville to match my Grayling Super Grizzly.

one more time....

if there were one answer in bows there wouldn't be so many great bows to choose from.

The reason the guy said he didn't like them is that he said he had bought 3 new bear bows this year and all had defects and one of them exploded. From what I got to shoot I liked it but they did not have a glove for me to use and the arrows that they gave me to shoot were about 26" long so I couldn't even pull to full draw. When I asked if they had longer arrows they said that not many people tested re recurves so the 26" was all they had, but it sounds to me like they just didn't want to help. I am currently looking for a local vendor that carries them to get a full experience with the bow.

I'll be honest. I have heard, and seen, about too many problems with recent Bear bows, including a good friend of mine who purchased a new Super Grizzly that arrived with, or quickly developed, multiple problems, from visible gaps in the lamination to stress lines in the glass that appeared within 6 mos, and with no abnormal use. Yes, their customer service is still good, but it should first be about consistently delivering a quality product. The occasion where you need to rely on customer service for a brand new bow should be very rare (or non-existent) in my opinion.

Sadly (and I say this as the owner of an old Bear bow that I love), I just don't think the attention to detail is still there with Bear as it used to be. If you're looking for a solid, good quality production recurve in the 58" range, I would spend a little more and look at something like the Martin/Howatt Mamba. Or, look for an older Bear that is in good condition (and which you can often find for the price of a new Grizzly or less), which will generally be a better value than a new one, imo.

I shot the new one and own a 1970 grizzly. I feel they both shoot wonderful. I really do admire my old grizz though lol.
as for bass pro.......go somewhere else. if it doesnt have to do with compounds and mechanical broadheads, they have no clue how to help you.

Good luck
