Poor season so far, not much time, but not much deer action either. A few does and a late season fawn. Minimal rubs, no scrapes.
Soooooooooo, I took today (no hunting here) to look elsewhere to find where they are hanging out. Spent the full day in the woods covering lots of territory.
To make a long story short, I ended the day checking my (what I thought to be) hottest stand..the "brook" stand. Rub, rub, rub, scrape, rub, scrape, monster freaking buck.
20 yards bedded from my tree, right in one of my shooting lanes. Jumped it and watched a mess of thick gnarly antlers bound three times and out of sight. BIG BIG BIG.
I was going to move this stand.

Every now and then it is good to just scout instead of hunting. It is amazing what you find. Hopefully you can use the info to tag a deer!!

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Wow sounds like pure excitement. The big buck that I started out after this season is dead,  by a poacher rumor has it. Ive got some investigating to do. What Im saying to you is get on him and keep on him hard. You never know when someone else will lay eyes on it.

YORNOC

I will try Izz... My time is very limited but I will try.

That buck knows his calendar.

No hunting on Sunday???   :banghead:
How many states have that restriction?
Oklahoma has a bunch of dumb laws but mainly for alcohol sales. We can hunt on Sunday (and still go to church).

I'm drinking from a saucer, cause my cup has overflowed.

No offense partner, as I'm card carrying Christian here; BUT, no Sunday hunting is pretty lame IMO. Never in the woods that I don't thank who made 'em. Might be time to petition the state?

David, the same thing here. But I didn't see a gnarly antlered buck. I had to work the weekend but came back to my stand to find the same thing. The rut seems late this year.
