My archery family.....your help and opinions, please!
« on: November 17, 2011, 08:28:00 PM »
Well these days by the time I get home from work its too dark to shoot outside.   This is extra aggravating because Monday afternoon there was a bombproof box at my door step from Nate at Bama Bows....my new Expedition Hunter had arrived!  I wont even start on the bow,  thats another post.  Ill just leave it at WOW for now.....post pics later.
Now Im trying to tune....in the dark for the most part!  And Im doing a suprisingly good job given the situation.....and think Im there......but I am looking for some reassurance in regards to my arrow set up.  What seems to be the perfect poison is a GT 35/55 cut to 29.5" and 200 grains up front.  Factory provided insert,  3  5inch shield cuts glued to a 7 inch wrap.  The bow is 52# at 28" and I draw a true 28.  D97 string.  Bow is cut 1/8 out from center.  I seem to be right on with this arrow set up,  but I havent had good light and Im only shooting at 15 yards!  Also,  a 135grn STOS epoxied to a 75 grn insert is flying identical to the 200 grn field points.  Do you think that my arrow set up is close to if not right on the money?  Sorry if this post seems kinda wierd but you know how it can be....getting a new bow!   :smileystooges:

Seems like your in the ballpark. If you have lighting in a basement or garage you might paper tune, until you have an opportunity to bareshaft outdoors.
