Recurve in OL Magazine????
« on: July 14, 2007, 05:48:00 PM »
Just a heads up about a write up in OL magazine. Mr. Super slam, first traditional bowhunter to take all 28 North American big game species.
I was surprised and excited to see a recurve in this month's mag.

Guys,

I have hunted with Rick.  He is a great guy.  He doesn't spend much time on the computer...too busy working and hunting.  He certainly has never tried to promote himself.  I actually talked to him to see if it was OK to put Bob in touch with him to do the article; didn't want to blow his cover  ;)  .  I would be proud for him to be our 'poster boy'.  He has built his business from nothing and it allows him to do what he loves and that is hunt everything he can with his Wapiti recurve.  He is a good hunter and a good man.

Fred Eichler has one to go to complete his slam , should go after his stone sheep soon. He was at our ATAR shoot here in West Virginia , seems like a good guy.

That was my thoughts as well. I couldn't help but wonder if they would have devoted more than a quarter page to the article if he had been shooting the latest robot bow or super-short-magnum rifle with a BDC reticle. Not to be too negative, I just wish they would have bothered to include some equipment info. or describe the preparation put into this accomplishment. I kinda got this "Oh and by the way some guy with a recurve got some nice trohpies" feeling from it. At least he made page 13. I'm also glad to hear that he's a good guy.

I've had the pleasure to spend some time with Fred and his lovely wife, Michelle, on the phone. They are wonderful people and very kind.

I agree with your points guys, I think you are right on. I was just so amazed to see a 'curve in there. Then I glanced at Bowhunting....in with all the doodads and widgets, and article about the new "super longbows". The "sickness" is spreading....LOL.
