NorthEastern Okies?
« on: November 19, 2011, 10:24:00 PM »
I am tentatively planning to hunt Cherokee Refuge on December 9, 10, and 11--if any of you in the area [or out of the area] are interested. My brother has been drawn out the last two years  to muzzleloader hunt there and has seen nothing but bucks both years. They open it up to the public for archery the day after gun season. Let me know if anyone is interested in joining me....
thanks, Joe D

I might add...they tell me there are bunches of hogs there now too, as well as good deer numbers.

I'd like to get in on that. I dont have the foggiest idea on where to hunt but maybe we could get together and discuss it here or over lunch?

Sounds fun, I hunted that area that opens after gun 2 years ago.  Bring the 4 wheel drive there are some big hills that get muddy if rains.  Are you camping?

I used to hunt Cherokee quite a bit.  Sounds like fun.  I'll try to get up there for a few days with you guys.

Hey guys, I went to scout Cherokee on Monday and was real impressed with the amount of deer sign in the area I plan to hunt.
The wildlife biologist on site said that area is real good for both deer and hogs!
I am planning to go down early friday morning and set up my camp and then be in the woods by 9:30 or 10:00,
If anyone else is interested in joining you are definitely welcome! PM me and we'll discuss....

Looking forward to getting out in the woods! Gonna be cool at night but 40s during the day. Winds shifting to out of the South at noon on Saturday but only 4-10 mph I believe.

Bringing my selfbow and flint tipped rivercane arrows and my BW recurve. Depends on my mood when its time to hit the woods.

Cherokee is a really cool place. I've been meaning to get more aquainted with it.
