Grizzly Ultimate 14"?
« on: July 15, 2007, 12:27:00 AM »
I'm going to Missouri next week for a family reunion. I'm thinking at stoping by Grizzly Industry in Springfield and picking up a 14" ultimate bandsaw. I see it's on sale for $395, anyways it comes with a 3/8" blade, I was wondering if I should get a 3/4" blade too and if so how many tooth blade? I well be cutting hardwood, black locus, osage. They have like 3 differnt blades 3,6,10tpi racker, and pos claw.

I bought one of those saws about 4 years ago, cut alot of wood on it and works awsome.  First suggestion would be not to buy blades there at
Grizzly.  Their blades are 92 1/2" and not the best quality were most every thing else you buy is 93 1/2 and its a pain to change between the two sizes.  I have mine set for 93 1/2" and makes it real easy to change between blades if they are all the same size.
I use all Timberwolf blades from  www.suffolkmachinery.com  because I get the best life out of them for cutting the mounds of purpleheart and osage that I do.  I use mostly 1/2 blades 3 and 4 tooth rarely six because I'm doing alot of ripping.  3/4" 3 tooth is awsome for ripping thicker hardwoods too.  Removes the material fast!  Good luck, think you'll like it.  dino

Buy Mark Duginske's book, "Bandsaw Handbook" for great info on using a bandsaw.  The Grizzly Ultimate has a great reputation.  A 4-6 TPI, 1/2" blade will be your best for selfbows.
Take a kid hunting!
