Pullover and a Haversack!
« on: November 23, 2011, 02:49:00 PM »
Guy's and Gal's,
I just got off the phone with Mrs. Teresa Asbell who by the way was preparing some pies for her Gang for Thanksgiving ... Fred was packing his suburban to go hunting whitetail after thanksgiving she said so I appologized if I were interupping Freds feeding time and she said "No"! A very kind lady seriously folks ...I was just checking on my order status cause my wife had ordered me a haversack around Oct.18th for my birthday and she was out of the red/black check...So last week I called her and asked if I could have a different plaid mix and she had one with a black strap instead of leather but it was a pattern she hasn't listed yet but sure I would like the colors...Now my wife ordered me the Evening stand green hooded 28 oz. pullover and she shipped both yesterday so I'm looking for that mail truck...While I was chatting with her about Fred and his upcoming hunt she told me she hoped he will bring home a couple deer and I said "Well I doubt he will miss"and there is a good video called Instintive shooting he could watch to help him if he does    :p      but anyway she mentioned she wanted to cann some of the deer and I was like           I never heard of that but she explained to me it was like when you do toematers and such with a pressure cooker...I      :dunno:     me don't gets stuff like that here but sounds yummy to me...Any of yews ever heard of this? Also she imformed me to keep an eye on her Sponser page for some really good deals coming up soon for Christmas...It's just little things like this that gets me excited about Traditional archery and this time of year...God Bless,
                                Keefers<><

Sure.  We can meat all the time.  Goat, chicken, rabbit, deer.  We have gone weeks without electricity up on the hill and it's good to keep a stocked pantry.

Just be sure to use a pressure canner and not an immersion bath canner.  That isn't hot enough.

And I agree.  Teresa is good people.  Fred . . . oh, he's good people too.

My wifes family used to can meat all the time. I've never had it but she insists it is good. Stumpkiller is right though you need to pressure can it. Hot water bath won't work.

I have heard tell of canned venison too. Doesn't really sound all that tasty, but everyone I talk to that does it says it's great.  I guess I will have to give it a try.

I can it every year. Do it the slow way, boils for three hours in a bath type. Never had a problem.

Yelp I had the same experience with Mrs. Asbell. She got my order out way quicker than I ever expected.

I got the last of the Brown Evening Stand in 3XL. I had the same experience if she was any sweeter she'd melt and down to earth willing to go the extra mile for ya!

I'm definitely gonna be buying more stuff from her. I would love to have a pair of pants made out of the same 28 oz wool. That would be awesome!!

Thanks Teresa!!!

I just got my hooded pullover from Mrs. Asbell, and she taliored it to fit my, uhh, ample frame, yeah thats it. Great person, great to do business with.

My wife just canned her whole buck she got during gun season, made 42 pint cans, minus the backstraps, tenderloins and some packs of stew meat. Takes 70 minutes at #11 pressure, 90 minutes for Quarts, super easy and simple. It tastes like really good beef potroast when opened and heated, already fully cooked. For those whoe dont like wild game taste, We do, it is great in that regards. We use it to make chineese strir fry, or chop suey, and stir fry peppers, onions and instant rice with a cup of water and some chili powder and other seasonings for quick Fajitas! The wife and I both work long hours, she can come home and fix supper in 20  minutes or less with this canned venision. If anyone wants the specifics, or I can help, PM me. Jeff Roark, on here regularly, has tried my canned venision, and he cant figure a way to screw it up, taste great especially shredded with BBQ sauce.

Mudd,

Is the windstopper just like a vest or something like a liner to help keep itch away?  Wouldn't mind seeing pics if you have a way to post them Brother! Thanks and God Bless,

the wind stopper is a micro fleese pull over vest that does a great job of stopping the wind
up till a couple of weeks ago i was wearing the windstopper with just a long sleeve shirt and leafy suit and staying plenty warm
there are pics on the hunters niche site
