Any pics of snake skins over brown glass?
« on: November 25, 2011, 09:01:00 PM »
Hi Gang,

I'm about ready to start my newest bow building project.  It will be a r/d longbow with brown glass.  If it turns out good and I like the way it shoots, I was thinking about putting some snake skins on the back.  I put skins on a bow with black fiberglass I built for a friend a while back and they looked great, but I was wondering what they might look like over brown glass.  So, does anybody have any pics they could post of snake skins over brown glass?

Thanks,

John

All snakes are different, copperheads are almost transparent while rattlesnakes and pythons are heavy and thick.Brown glass is kind of forgiving, I like backing over it. Copperheads can look gray over black, but still keep their color better over brown. Prairies, diamondbacks, watersnakes, timbers, bulls, ratsnakes, all go well over brown.
If skinning a longbow, consider the bullsnake. Tight pattern goes well over thin limbs, and they are loaded with browns, tans, black, yellows and even hints of orange. More pics latedr, photobucket is AWEFUL to use. Takes forever for each pic. Very aggrevated.

Thank you! It was pretty windy that morning and I don't think that is the best one I took but it shows the bow well. Love all those skinned bows! Keep them coming

I've seen copperhead skins turn silver and black over brown glass. It still looks good but doesn't have that nice copper color.

OK, that settles it.  If this bow I'm working on turns out decent, it's getting skins.

Thanks for all the pics!!!
