I just did my first dozen and they turned out pretty sweet but I've got a question.  Why would my paint sink??  I was using testors oil based model paint and it was only the white color, green and blue would float fine.  I still got it to work but it was funny.  Thought my water was maybe to cold or to warm.

D, no idea why the white would sink. I didn't use a base coat on mine, but the red and black covered just fine. Also, after I finished cresting I wiped on a coat of Minwax wipe-on polyu and brought back the shine after rubbing off the air bubble bumps with the fine steel wool.

Like I mentioned, I had to thin the paint down 50/50 with acetone...

Those came out great, well done! I'm planning to do some woodies this winter and I think I'll try that.
