I just wanted to invite anyone that might be interested in viewing this awesome collection of bows. I have a special viewing set up for saturday the 10th from 9 till 10 in columbia, MO. Mudd, Gray Buffalo, and i are going along with a few others, but all are invited. Let me know.

I live 3.5 hrs away. I'd really like to see the  collection myself. Thought maybe I'd see If I could ask a friend or two If they be intrested. Are we limited to a 1hr visit, and also how much notice would you need?

I was totally pumped to go see the collection today...lol

I came back here and read it isn't until next Saturday..lol

I live a hour and a half away. I dont think that we are limited, just thats only when we have the guide.  I will post directions early next week for anyone that wants to join us.

1910-2009

Notes of Interest
◦Graduated Stanford Medical School in 1936. During World War II he served briefly in the military as a physician. After the war, he was an instructor at Stanford Medical School, later going into private practice in Sacramento, Calif.

◦Archery historian and collector of ancient and modern archery equipment and artifacts. Donor of the extensive Grayson Collection to the University of Missouri Museum of Anthropology

◦Flight shooting competitor - Won many national competitions and held many National Archery Association flight records

◦Bowyer - Developed the forward handle used by flight shooters today - Developed the "keyhole" sight window in flight bows of his design

◦California Archery Hall of Fame

◦Active in the American Boy Scout movement throughout his life

◦Active in the National Archery Association as flight shooter and fundraiser

◦Bowhunter

◦Over 70 years of service to the sport

Okay saturday everyone. We meet @ 8:45 a.m. at thr Museum Support Center on Rock Quarry Road just south of Staidum Dr. The is plenty of parking im told.

This is an absolutely magnificent archery collection that far too few people know about. It is very much worth the trip from hundreds of miles away. Take your camera!

The collection is something to see.  Dr Grayson concentrated more on non-north american artifacts, but the range of stuff is amazing.  Ask the curator how the reproduction work is going.  Last time I was there they were trying to build some replicas for testing.

He donated his entire collection to the University on Missouri with the stipulation that it never be broken up.  A portion of the collection is on full time display in Swallow Hall.  The rest you have to schedule to see (I think).
