Trail cam reveals deer missing any ideas?

This year I broke down and bought a digital trail camera. Pretty fun to mess with. Anyway today I was going through pictures and noticed something. I put the camera by an old apple tree on my property that still has plenty of apples. From October 7th until November 15th when my battery died I had pictures of deer everyday (sometimes night pictures) except three five day periods. From 10-28 - 11-05,11-03 - 11-08 and 11-10 - 11-15. I just wonder why the deer dissapear for five days in row no day or night pictures. Any theories ?

Deer are playing a game of "Let's stump the human"?
That is rather odd. But hey, at least you have them patterned.

Just guessing but it might have something to do with Rut activity.....That's about the right time of the season, chase, pre rut, and rut. Of course I could be all wet and maybe they all went to Florida for the holidays...LOL

Mine do the same thing. Of course you are only looking at one part of your property, but they seem to show up on camera every 4 days or so. this pattern actually matches what I see from my stands..... I might see nothing for 2-3 days, then, they show up. Maybe they spend one day in Bergen, and one day in Bristol and 2 days travelling :-)

Could be the rut. I put new batteries in and will see how many made it past the orange army. I know at least one eight and the little three pointer have made it so far. If they went to Bristol please send them home!

I would have said lock down on your later dates.. but since it started end of October that would have been start of chase phase, at least here a little west of you. Should have seen lots of deer I would think those days.. Maybe your deer have a large "home" range and are moving quite a bit? Do they bed in the same general area day after day?

I would say the lock down during the rut. I mean bucks get on a doe and stay with her and it freaks her fawns out and they don't move as much and the younger bucks get the boot by than and are off looking for new home range and maybe getting lucky by wandering and finding a hot doe. The rut around here, I mean the actual breeding was early the last 2 years, seeking and chasing was end of oct. and first couple days of Nov. than the actual breeding started and trickled for about 2 weeks. It was a done deal by the 12th. or 13th of November here. Normally the actual breeding starts around the 15th. give or take. As I said we were 8-1 days early. I am now seeing sign of a second rut and that normally around here is the week before christmas to christmas. Shawn
