I'm in the Valley myself.  I don't know the Anchorage shops at all.  One of these days I'm gonna have to just spend a day running around Anchorage and looking around.

Out in Wasilla, I frequent Bear Paw.  They're really good folks, and even though they don't have a huge amount of stock..they haven't forgotten about Trad shooters.

If you run into Ron who is often there, he's a  Very friendly, knowledgable, and skilled guy.  He can tell ya' all about self bows, making arrows out of boards or Lowes bamboo, etc. and he's a great coach and shooter too.  Kinda the Sage that picks up the bow you think you're having trouble with, flings six arrows into the center ring shrugs his shoulders and says it seems to shoot fine for him...

They shoot 3-D every Wednesday night at 7:00.  It's a very, small, friendly, and informal affair.  Really.  The last time I shot, I took second place and won...$15.  Which was just enough to cover my entry fee.  I thought it was hilarious, and fun.  They run slightly odd hours

If nothing else, when I'm in town I shoot two or three days a week, and I'm always happy to meet and shoot with someone new.  I've got nuthin' to teach, but after you watch me shoot, you're bound to feel better about yourself.   ;)

The....other archery shop in Wasilla hasn't impressed me, but your experience may vary.  They don't have much for Trad shooters, but they did have a couple of breathtakingly beautiful Toelke bows there.

Go see Bill at Backcountry Archery in Anchorage, off of Arctic Boulevard.  Not really a trad shop but he's a trad shooter, and very knowledgeable and helpful.  I'm a few hours from there.
